Is There an Ideal Length For a Blog Post?

If there’s one thing bloggers seem to be wondering, it’s how long the ideal blog post should be. I’ve seen this subject bandied about time and time again and I can’t help wondering what all the fuss is about.

The topic never seems to die, giving me cause to believe it’s rather important to somebody out there, even if I personally have never given it a significant amount of thought.

You see, I’ve always held the old school belief that the ideal number of words for a blog post is whatever it takes to convey the message – simple as that.

But in the interest of debate, let’s take a look at the current state of the discussion of:

How to Add the Last Updated Date to Posts in Genesis

Recently I updated a tutorial blog post that was over a year old and completely out of date. This involved renewing all the images and rewriting the majority of the text.

After I updated the post it dawned on me that, unless the blog post showed a date of when it was last updated, the chances are a lot of people could be put off reading it when they see its original publish date. After all, who wants to read old information?

I could have changed the published date of the blog post to the date of when I updated it, but this would mean the updated post would appear as the first post on my blog. I didn’t like that idea, instead I wanted my blog posts to automatically show the dates of when they were last updated.

However, depending on the type of blog you are creating, I have noticed one blog page that does not get much of a mention and is quite often overlooked.

AdSense Sign Up – Don’t Overcomplicate It

Recently I have read some posts about applying for Google AdSense in which people have left comments saying how they are struggling to get AdSense approval for their blog or website. This in turn brought up many suggestions and ideas of what people should do to get their Google AdSense application approved.

I understand that people mean well and only offer advice that they believe to be helpful, however, after reading many of the suggestions and taking into account my personal experience of applying for AdSense, I’m afraid a lot of these suggestions don’t stack up.
